Dr. Justin Tammany holds a Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree in Biology and Psychology from Greenville College in Illinois, a Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree from the University of Illinois, and a Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) degree from Indiana University.  He completed his Doctor of Science (ScD) degree in 2018 from the Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center with an emphasis on orthopedic and manual physical therapy.

Dr. Tammany is a certified orthopedic specialist (OCS), a certified orthopedic manual therapist (COMT), certified ergonomic assessment specialist (CEAS) and a credentialed clinical instructor. He has extensive experience in orthopedics, sports medicine, industrial rehabilitation and geriatrics. Prior to joining the faculty at HSU, he spent over 10 years in full-time clinical practice, most recently as Physical Therapy Director at Coleman County Medical Center in Coleman, Texas.  He provides consultation to multiple rural hospitals in the area regarding implementation and operation of their rehabilitation departments.  His research interests include physical therapy policy and administration and individual and organizational behavior.

A former college baseball player, Dr. Tammany remains active volunteering in the local youth sports community with his children and can often be found at HSU sporting events cheering on the Cowboys.
